Koo, an Indian alternative to Twitter, had become the talk of the town a few months ago. In short, Koo is the Indian version of Twitter or long lost, duplicate brother with desi tadka. It is available on Android and iOS platform.
Mission of Koo
According to the research by the owners, the primary purpose for finding this app in India is that only 10 per cent of Indians speaks English. Almost 1 billion people in India don't know English.
In recent news, Koo, the Indian microblogging platform that aimed to make the voices of Indians heard in their local languages, has been closed. The platform was designed to cater to users who preferred communicating in one of India's hundreds of languages, providing a space where they could express themselves freely. Despite its unique offering and features similar to Twitter, Koo has now shut down, marking the end of its attempt to amplify the voices of regional language speakers.
What Were Koo's Features?
Koo offered a variety of features that were quite similar to Twitter:
Follow and Feed: Users could follow individuals and browse through a personalized feed.
Multimedia Messages: Users could write messages in text or share them in audio or video formats.
Language Options: The app supported languages like Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Tamil, and English, with plans to add more.
Local Language Expression: It allowed people to express their opinions in their local languages.
Character Limit: Messages, called "Koo," could be written up to 400 characters.
How to Download Koo?
Before its closure, Koo was available as a free app on both Android and iOS. Users could also download it by searching for "Koo" on Google Play.
