My mobile got stolen within 1 minute
on the 7th Day of My New Job in 2016
Way back in 2016, while going to my flat via Metro after the induction round of my first job at Reliance Digital.
I was talking to my friend and sharing with him about my new work culture, and at the same time, I was waiting for the Metro; I saw the Metro coming. I cut the call and put it in my pocket. There was no one behind me; I was surrounded by 2-3 people checking their mobiles. Within 1 minute, I entered the Metro, I put the mobile inside my pocket to check my mobile, and my pocket was empty. I checked my both pockets, checked my office bag, looked at the people's min disbelief. I got down on another metro station, took another metro, and returned to the central metro station from where I had boarded the Metro, and I could not find my mobile.
I sat at the metro station for 30 minutes in disbelief and then I decided to go back to my flat. The moment I reached my flat, I have told my roommates and his friends about the whole incident. I contacted my parents using his mobile to tell them I was safe and complete happening. I have also called the HR department and shared the entire incident via email. I have told the HR head was very supportive. He granted me two days of leave to get a new mobile and reissue my sim.
The moment I got my mobile, I got my contacts restored and got all the important emails and WhatsApp.
Lesson learned
Always sync your mobile with Google. It will help you to restore your contacts.
Install Google Find your location to locate the location of your mobile.
Share everything with HR rather than thinking about how they will respond.
